Deborah Cartwright obtained a BA Honours degree in Modern Continental Philosophy and Phenomenology and studied esoteric psychology through the Theosophical Society. Becoming a published author on self-development and esoteric psychology in 1999, with her non-fiction book The Inward Revolution, published by Warner, Little Brown and co-authored with popular novelist Storm Constantine. The book stands as a unique perspective of alternative psychology, self-help and modern existentialism.

She is best known in the UK for her research with authors Andrew Collins, Graham Phillips and Paul Weston, and her work has directly contributed to many of their books on the genre of earth mysteries, forbidden archaeology and historical investigation. A key figure in the alternative archaeology community since the 1990’s, Debbie provided inspiration and foundational ideas for Andrew’s books The Circlemakers, The Second Coming and From the Ashes of Angels. This collaborative research into the prehistoric origins of civilisation continued with her involvement in his books, Denisovan Origins in 2019, and Origins of the Gods in 2022, co-authored with Dr Greg Little.

Debbie is also known for her extensive work on the Rosslyn Chapel Project between 1992 to 2003 on the subject of the mystical beliefs and practices of the Knights Templar and the Sinclair family for key figures of the project. They included Niven Sinclair, author Stephen Prior, historian Robert Brydon and the then curator of the chapel, Judith Fiskin.

As an exponent of the ‘Questing’ movement since 1990, Debbie defines it as the unique practice of interacting with ancient sites and the natural landscape to retrieve lost historical knowledge, solve mysteries, or effect change in the landscape and within the self. Using esoteric techniques such as meditation and mental visualisation, ‘questing’ is a physical pursuit encompassing many different spiritual, esoteric and occult disciplines to obtain knowledge of the past. Debbie’s current work focuses on research into animism and the philosophy behind prehistoric shamanism, offering a unique perspective on the question of ‘what the ancients were up to’.
